The major scale and its modes are the most commonly used scales in western music.
Its modes play the same notes from another degree: B Dorian from the 2nd, C# Phrygian from the 3rd, D Lydian from the 4th, E Mixolydian from the 5th, F# Aeolian from the 6th and G# Locrian from the 7th.
