The major scale and its modes are the most commonly used scales in western music.
Its modes play the same notes from another degree: G Dorian from the 2nd, A Phrygian from the 3rd, Bb Lydian from the 4th, C Mixolydian from the 5th, D Aeolian from the 6th and E Locrian from the 7th.
