The major scale and its modes are the most commonly used scales in western music.
Its modes play the same notes from another degree: F# Dorian from the 2nd, G# Phrygian from the 3rd, A Lydian from the 4th, B Mixolydian from the 5th, C# Aeolian from the 6th and D# Locrian from the 7th.
