The major scale and its modes are the most commonly used scales in western music.
Its modes play the same notes from another degree: E Dorian from the 2nd, F# Phrygian from the 3rd, G Lydian from the 4th, A Mixolydian from the 5th, B Aeolian from the 6th and C# Locrian from the 7th.
