The major scale and its modes are the most commonly used scales in western music.
Its modes play the same notes from another degree: F Dorian from the 2nd, G Phrygian from the 3rd, Ab Lydian from the 4th, Bb Mixolydian from the 5th, C Aeolian from the 6th and D Locrian from the 7th.
