The major scale and its modes are the most commonly used scales in western music.
Its modes play the same notes from another degree: C Dorian from the 2nd, D Phrygian from the 3rd, Eb Lydian from the 4th, F Mixolydian from the 5th, G Aeolian from the 6th and A Locrian from the 7th.
