The major scale and its modes are the most commonly used scales in western music.
Its modes play the same notes from another degree: D Dorian from the 2nd, E Phrygian from the 3rd, F Lydian from the 4th, G Mixolydian from the 5th, A Aeolian from the 6th and B Locrian from the 7th.
